This is the first version of the Tenor Madness Early Babbitt mouthpieces made about 10 - 15 years ago. They are commonly mistaken for actual Early Babbitt mouthpieces as there is little that distinguishes them from the originals. The differences include a longer shank, and the chain wrap around does not line up exactly. These differences were done intentionally at the Babbitt factory and is where I learned how to tell them apart. These are INCREDIBLY good playing mouthpieces and highly sought after. They very rarely pop up and when they do they are sold as an actual vintage piece about 80% of the time with a higher price tag. Please contact the shop to talk more about this awesome mouthpiece!
